Stanton is the seat of Martin County, with 2,657 people at the 2020 census. It lies northeast of Midland along I-20.
What that means for your move
Stanton is small, so moves often run to or from Midland, Big Spring or further afield rather than across town. Movers coming from Midland may charge travel time, so ask how it's billed. If you're packing yourself, having everything boxed before the crew arrives makes the drive worth it. See packing services.
Founded as Marienfeld
Stanton was founded as Marienfeld by German immigrants, some of the first settlers in this part of Texas. In 1887, New York native John Scharbauer set up a cattle ranch nearby. Martin County is mostly farm and ranch land, and the town is the main center for shopping, schools and services for the families spread across it.
A small-town move
In a town this size, moves are often between family homes, into a first house or out to a larger property nearby. Older homes may have narrow doors and steps that make large furniture tricky, and newer homes on the edge of town may have long driveways. Measure doorways and tell the mover about steps and parking. If you only need help with a few heavy pieces, see loading and unloading help.
